This session introduces participants to the key components of a building employing passive and active fire protection, a framework that guides how we design, plan, and implement effective fire safety measures across a wide range of occupancies and environments.


Our Speaker: Randy Panesar Randy Panesar


Randy Panesar, B.Ed (Adult Education), M.Ed (Higher Education Leadership), NFPA 1031, NFPA 1035, Partial NFPA 921, is a Professor and Coordinator of the Fire Prevention and Technology program at Durham College. He holds degrees in Adult Education and Higher Education Leadership from the University of Toronto, with graduate research focused on leadership in Canadian post-secondary education. Randy is also the founder of Liberty Fire Education and Consulting, dedicated to advancing fire and life safety through training and professional education. Recognized for his expertise in fire prevention, code compliance, and human behaviour in fire, he is regarded across North America as a leader in fire and life safety education. A passionate advocate for education, Randy founded international scholarship initiatives supporting orphaned students pursuing post-secondary education. He combines technical expertise with advanced adult learning strategies to equip students and professionals for success in the fire and life safety field.
