Attention: Ontario CFAA Fire Alarm Technicians
 
Effective January 1, 2026, substantial changes to the Ontario Fire Code (O. Reg. 87/25) will be implemented, significantly impacting fire alarm system testing and maintenance in buildings across Ontario.
 
The latest edition of CAN/ULC-536:2024 Standard for Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems will be adopted and enforced. The standard mandates additional testing procedures and more thorough, standardized documentation, increasing inspection time.
